Animation Highlight - Masanobu Hiraoka

I came across this post on Motionographer.com a few weeks ago and I HAD to include it in my animation highlights.

I love the simplicity, the colors and the abstract/ surrealist approach. This is what i LOVE about 2D animation and I wish to see more of this handling and even experimentation in 3D as well.

Hope you enjoy!!

Japanese director/animator Masanobu Hiraoka’s latest short film, titled simply “My New Animation,” is a hypnotic study of division and collision.

Created in a style consistent with his previous works, the short’s painstakingly animated figures endlessly morph, ushering viewers through abstract vignettes that span nearly five mesmerizing minutes of run time.

Hiraoka is something of a Vimeo Staff Pick darling, with three other films in their gilded collection: “Uneasiness and triangle” (2011), “ONE AND THREE FOUR” (2014) and “Land” (2014). - via Motionographer.com
